CEN TC 353 - Learning, Education and Training NORMAPME mirror committee

29/04/2011

This is the Mirror Committee for TC 353 - ICT for Learning, Education and Training. The Mirror Committee is the group of SMEs that support the NORMAPME expert in presenting the views of SMEs during the drafting of standard.

CEN TC 353 aims to encourage the effective development and use of standards in the field of information and communication technologies relating to learning, education and training.

This is an area that affects most of the population in Europe. Almost all learners in schools and many adults undertake learning, education and training that involves the use of ICT. The business environment application sectors include: education and training autorities, universities and schools, providers of professional and vocational education and training, software and system providers that support educational contexts, as well as publishers and broadcasters of educational content.

Sharing of data, content, tools and services for learning, education and training can only be achieved when clear technical agreements are made between all parties concerned. Focus of TC 353 lie on standards for vocabularies and frameworks, quality and competencies. The following European standards have been developed, approved and published (or waiting to be published) by the TC 353: ISO/IEC 19796-3:2009 - reference framework for the description of quality approaches (RFDQ), FprEN 15981 - European learner mobility (EuroLMAI), FprEN 15943 - Curriculum Exchange Format (CEF) and prEN 15982 - Metadata on learning opportunities (MLO) - advertising. Work in TC 353 is carried out in close cooperation with the CEN workshop on learning technologies.
