CEN TC 207 Furniture NORMAPME Mirror Committee

CEN/TC 207, which is followed by our expert Helmut Haybach, deals with standardisation in the field of all furniture (including mattresses, excluding transport furniture), considering, where appropriate:

• terminology;


• safety (e.g. test methods on flammability and fire behavior);


• test methods and requirements for end products, parts, components, surfaces, surface finishes and furniture hardware; dimensions.

Standards for raw materials are excluded.

The structure of the TC is the following:

• WG 1 “Domestic furniture”


• WG 2 “Kitchen and bathroom furniture”


• SC 3 “Office furniture”


• WG 4 “Outdoor furniture”


• WG 5 “Contract and educational furniture”


• WG 6 “Test methods for fire behaviour”


• WG 7 “Surfaces and surface finishes of furniture”


• CEN/TC 207 ad hoc group “Glass in furniture”


• WG 8 “Hardware for furniture”

The furniture sector is composed of approximately 100.000 companies: 90 % of them are SMEs
